There was no service at the beach or even reasonable places to sit. The beach was an absolute eye sore filled with piles of baked seaweed that smelled like sewage.
Other resorts have had live music, tequila tasting, shows etc. It would have been nice to have a bocce ball court, corn hole etc set up on the platforms that were unused during the day.
The activities were limited to in water volleyball and aeorbics. While stunning, the pool does not offer any ocean views and much of the time there is a loud DJ. If that had been the case, we would have gladly accepted the offer and our trip would have been much more enjoyable. At the end of the trip, he claimed they offered to move our room and we declined. Our "concierge" did not address our concerns or the disruption it caused to a trip. The level of customer service we received at these resorts FAR exceeds that of the Unico at a lower price. I've stayed at other resorts including the Blue Diamond, Secrets Maroma Beach, and the Beloved. We paid a premium fee for a room that we could not enjoy. They offered to let us sleep in a room during the evening hours halfway across the resort and away from our belongings. We called the concierge immediately and they told us they did not have any available rooms but that we could discuss it the next day. Our room was located on the 3rd floor and 3/6 nights we heard thumping, vibrations and loud noise until 4 AM resulting in no sleep. Unfortunately the ocean front rooms on the east side of the resort are located near a nightclub with no noise ordinances or hourly restrictions. The resort grounds are beautiful as are the rooms (exactly as pictured). You will be delighted at your choice! We will certainly be back!… I highly recommend staying at Unico 20 87. Thank you Martha, Leidy Ddc Cordova, Marvin and all of the extremely hard working staff that helped make our stay so pleasurable 🙏. The chocolate making class was unique, interesting, hands on and extremely tasty! Yummy. Poolside dining was most excellent with salads, chicken strips, burgers, pizza from a wood fired oven, guacamole, ceviche and so many other wonderful tasty treats! Luna Leticia always kept our room neat tidy and smelling oh so beautifully tropical with the available aromatherapy choices. Great food was available whenever we wanted something to eat. Guadalupe & other caring staff kept the drinks flowing at our poolside loungers & cabana. Everyone was happy when Alejandro was on duty! Fernando our poolside bartender makes the best tasting drinks and he introduced us to 400 Rabbits Mezcal. Mario was the most attentive and interesting waiter that we have ever had! Lauren, Juan & Javier - thank you for helping us make the most out of our two week vacation! You guys really hit home run after home run! Outstanding! Diamanté and Angel at Mi Carisa, a most excellent Italian restaurant - we loved the special attention to DonnaLee’s birthday celebration! The Mariachi/waiters birthday song in Spanish was memorable! We will never forget your hospitality! Alejandro was the best poolside captain we most certainly will ever have. The staff was exemplary in every way! Special mention going out to Mario in Mura House the Japanese restaurant. It’s easy to say that we had a very comfortable, relaxing, exhilarating and pampered two weeks at Unico 20 87. The pool and outdoor areas are inviting, fun filled or quiet and extremely relaxing with excellent pool food and bottomless drinks expertly prepared. Our room was large and extremely well appointed and very quiet. The restaurants are diverse with large menues to choose from. The facilities are relatively new and in spectacular shape. We recently returned from a most excellent stay at Unico 2087 resort near Tulum Mexico.
